Background:Eczema is a type of atopic and inflammatory dermatosis with the characteristics of high morbidity rates, rapid onset and higher risk of relapse, whose causes including internal and external factors. Eczema may occur in any part of the body, the clinical symptoms include swollen, red, papule or papulovesicle and itchy skin which result in the low quality of life of patients.The Traditional Chinese Medicine with thousands of years clinical practice in Eczema treatment, shows great advantages in this flied. While the insufficiency of itching controlling and long course of treatment led to the integrated treatment which contains the use of western medicine. On the other hand, the symptomatic approach for treating eczema is always used by western medicine, the common medications include glucocorticoid, antihistamine, while the side effects such as drug-resistant, drug dependence concluding the urgent demand of better treatment which has the advantages of higher cure rate and lower side effects.Objective:The scholar Li Guangrui puts forward the new intervention with the theory of Clearing heat away, Eliminating and Tranquilizing for treating eczema which showed the significant efficacy in the latest clinical practice while rigorous randomized controlled trial should be carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of this new method. This research focuses on this new method for treating the subacute type of eczema and improving the effectiveness of the intervention.Methods:90cases of patients with subacute eczema damp-heat, were randomly divided into a treatment group and the control group,45patients in each. Treatment group was given Clearing away heat and Eliminating and Tranquilizing Treatment while the control group was given oral cetirizine therapy. The course was2weeks. The EXAI, itching degree, adverse events were assessmented. SPSS18.0were used to analyze the data.Results:The total effective rate of the treatment group is higher than the controlled group. It showed statistical difference in major signs and scores between the two groups (p=0.007, P<0.05), the effects of the treatment group is better than the control group. The releasing in itching of Eliminating and Tranquilizing Treatment was observed (p=0.001, P<0.01). Treatment group have the better reducing of degree of itching than control group (P=0.03, P<0.05).Conclusions:1. Clearing away heat, Eliminating and Tranquilizing Treatment is better than oral cetirizine therapy.2. Clearing away heat and Eliminating and Tranquilizing Treatment can significantly improve the clinical signs and symptoms of subacute eczema. Clearing away heat, Eliminating and Tranquilizing Treatment can release the symptom of itching.
