Constitution is a special physical state under the influence of the external environment of the body formed. This state and the specificity of the body’s physiological reaction to some of the causative factors are closely related. The doctrine of TCM constitution emphasizes the individual characteristics of the physical structure and physiological function of character. On this basis, we can try to analyze the lesion site of the disease, the nature of the reactions and the development of external factors to prevent the disease. In the clinical diagnosis and treatment of Western medicine, it began to appear some situations that the treatment is not satisfactory even the drugs are proven effective. So the Western medicine physician start to join the term of constitution to its commentary on the patient’s conditionStroke is defined as the stenosis of cerebral artery in patients caused by external factors. and thus the disorder of brain blood circulation occurs. The clinical manifestations of stroke include suddenly collapsed, unconscious, movement disorder, or even aphasia. The occurrence of stroke is the development on the basis of the formation of a specific physical, so it contains the physical components, but there are differences between them. It illustrate the physiological state and pathological manifestations of the body from two different angles in normal and pathological way.In the era of modern medical technology, gradually increase of the survival rate of patients with stroke, but subsequent rehabilitation cost of medical care they need is quite amazing. Thus the modern Western medicine began to study stroke from the way of physiology and pathology, and then evolve to the microscopic molecular biology, genetic engineering. The western medicine had classified that the genetic factor indeed played a role in stroke, and TCM stared to defined the impact of the constitution in the diagnosis and treatment. The TCM also has collected a lot for the data, and obtained preliminary results to confirm the relationship between constitution and the incidence of disease and its prognosis.AIM:To classify the constitution of the stroke patients in Taiwan and Try to find out if there any difference in patients of stroke between Taiwan and Shanghai. Method:The By the way of Wang Qi, we collected the structured questionnaire of constitution of stroke patients in Taiwan. And the result was used to investigate the relationship between body constitution types in gender and compared with the patients in Shanghai. Results:①The constitution type of Phlegm-damp was the most common type in stroke group in Taiwan, then yin-deficiency and Qi-deficiency②There is no specific difference between the gender of the patients in Taiwan③Compared with two groups in Taiwan and Shanghai, The phlegm-damp types and the Qi-deficiency type have specific difference in numbers.
