Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis is a kind of renal damage caused byallergic purpura which is the result of anaphylactic reaction. The primarypathological manifestation of Henoch-schonlein purpura(HSP) is necrotizingvasculitis which infects small vessels. The following renal injury showsglomerular mesangial cells hyperplasia, which is associated with a variety ofimmune complex deposition. The common pathogenic factors of HSPN include allkinds of infections、medications、insects biting、food hypersensitivity and soon. The disease often attacks children, and the incidence rate of adults is notlow either. The major clinical manifestations of HSPN are: skin purpura, arthralgia, abdominal pain and hematochezia, proteinuria, hematuria, etc. Whichbelong to the category of blood pattern, spontaneous bleeding of theflesh, haematuria of Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).The morbidity risk rateof HSPN is associated with congenital constitution factors of human accordingto Professor Ma’s clinical experience for years. Kidney deficiency and innateinsufficiency are the morbidity foundation of this disease. The attack of thepathogenic factor, improper diet, overstrain and aeipathia are the inducementsof HSPN.So kidney deficiency and toxin accumulation are the basic pathogenesisof HSPN. The location of HSPN is kidney, and it has clear connection with lung, spleen and liver, etc. HSPN pertains to the syndrome of interior deficiency andexterior excess. Deficiency of renal collaterals is the basis, and exogenouspathogenic factors of HSPN are heat toxin, stasis toxin and dampness toxin. Thesethree toxin factors are both the pathological products and pathogenicfactors. The clinical stages of HSPN according to its progress are: acute phase, stationary phase and chronic lag phase. The main pathogenic toxin of each phaseis different, so the emphasis of each clinical treatment is different. Thespecific treatment methods of HSPN are clearing heat and detoxicating,Removing blood stasis, warming yang to resolve wetness, tonifying kidney and spleen, nourishing Yin and tonifying Qi and so on,which can be used to gainthe purpose of treating deficiency and excess, taking both the root cause andsymptoms of the disease into accounted. In addition, hormono therapy is alwaysused for treating HSPN. And cytotoxic drugs can also be applied to those patientswho are not sensitive to hormones or in a critical condition. But both drugshave many side-effects, which can make great injury to human body. ProfessorMa pays great attention to weighing the advantage and disadvantage betweenTraditional Chinese Medicine and Modern Medicine. She learned from each otherin mutual emulation and has achieved remarkable curative effect. The article isto summarize and analysis Professor Ma’s experience in the therapy of HPSN.
