Chronic renal failure (chronic renal failure, CRF) is in a variety of chronic kidney diseaseand/or systemic disease involving the kidney to base on the renal parenchyma, caused bychronic, progressive damage, leading to glomerular filtration rate continued to decline, evenfailure in clinical comprehensive caused by syndrome, is a common and refractory diseaseharm people’s health and life in clinic.Based on years’ experience,Professor YUAN believes that weakness,edema,obstructionand rejection,urine toxin and other names of diseases can not sum up the whole clinicalmanifestations of chronic renal failure. As for TCM name of chronic renal failure,the way ofcombining name of diseases in Shanghanlun can be used,and the chronic renal failure can bediagnosed as weakness with XX. Congenital deficiency,improper diet or emotions,overstrainor trauma,external evils or drug toxins and other causes,can damage the vital Qi,makespleen and kidney deficiency,turbid and blood stasis accumulating internally,and block theQi of triple-Jiao,resulting in Qi movement disorder which belongs to the syndrome of rootdeficiency and branch excess. Professor YUAN proposes that the pathogenesis of chronicrenal failure is root deficiency with branch excess and Qi movement disorder. As for thetreatment,professor YUAN states the main principle of treating the root and branchsimultaneously and regulating the Qi movement,focusing on individual treatment andsyndrome differentiation as well as regulating life activity and prevention. The comprehensivetreatment has obtained obvious effect in clinic. This article is to summarize YUAN Fang’sexperience on treating chronic renal failure.
