Aim:To understand the epidemiology and clinical characteristics of the patientswith ascites, by observing the general condition, signs and symptoms. And toexplore the relationship between the TCM syndromes in cirrhosis with ascitesand objective examination indicators of patients, Child-Pugh results,complications.Methods:323affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicinepatients of ascites between January2005and December2011complying with thestandard of selection were collected in this study.Recorded the gender, age, etiology, symptoms and signs, laboratory tests, ultrasound results, Child-Pughclassification, complications of the patients and then use SPSS17.0softwarefor statistical analysis.Discuss the interrelationships of TCM and the records. Results:Their patients divided into the dampness due to stagnation of QI (139cases),the fighting of heat and humid (88cases), the yang deficiency of spleen andkidney (46cases), the yin deficiency of liver and kidney (50patients).It isshow in the date that the mean of dampness due to stagnation of QI is the highestin the case of ALB、Na~+,the mean of the fighting of heat and humid is the highestin the case of ALT、AST、DBIL、APTT、CA125,the mean of the yang deficiencyof spleen and kidney is the lowest in the case of GGT、TBA、HGB and the meanof dampness due to stagnation of QI is the lowest in the case of WBC、K~+.Therewere statistically significant differences of the results given above. So theTCM syndromes in cirrhosis with ascites are correlated with ALB、ALT、AST、GGT、TBA、DBIL、APTT、HGB、WBC、K~+、Na~+、CA125. Conclusion:①The incidence of cirrhosis with ascites in males is more than that in females. And the peak incidence of cirrhosis with ascites is in middle-aged. Viralhepatitis (especially hepatitis B) is the mainly cause of disease.②The clinicalsymptoms mainly feature on bloating, edema, yellow eyes, spider nevus, yellowurine.③The TCM syndromes in cirrhosis with ascites are not correlated withage, gender, AFP and ultrasound results.④The TCM syndromes in cirrhosis withascites shared significant difference in ALB, ALT, AST, GGT, TBA, DBIL, APTT,HGB, WBC, K~+, Na~+and CA125(P<0.05).⑤Child-Pugh classification is varying fromA to B in TCM syndromes according to their severity.6.Patients have differentcomplications and differs from TCM syndromes.
