ObjectiveTo compare and evaluate the fixing effects of two different internalfixation modes Locking Proximal Femoral Plate (LPFP) and ProximalFemoral Nail Antirotation (PFNA)for subtrochanteric fractures of typeSeinsheimerⅡ-ⅢA by using three-dimensional finite element method, toprovide theoretical mechanics basis for choosing the internal fixation inclinic.MethodsEstablished the ideal finite element models of four kinds ofsubtrochanteric fractures SeinsheimerⅡA、ⅡB、ⅡC and ⅢA as well asthe finite element models of two different internal fixation methods, tosimulated a situation of standing on one leg, and loaded the models with ajoint pressure of an assumed overall weight of62Kg, and carried out thefinite element calculations. Analyzing the proximal femoral displacement, internal fixations displacement, fixing components stress and proximalfemoral cancellous bone stress, compare the fixing effects of two internalfixation modes for four types of fracture.ResultsIn the four types of fracture, the fixing effects of PFNA are better than LPFP.ConclusionThe three-dimensional finite element analysis of modes forsubtrochanteric fractures of type SeinsheimerⅡ-ⅢA were establishedbasically. Both of two internal fixation modes may be used forsubtrochanteric fractures of type SeinsheimerⅡ-ⅢA, the fixing effects ofPFNA is better than that of LPFP.
