At present,the huge caterpillar hydraulic backhoe excavators are relativelyless in the domestic markets,especially for the ones whose quality are more than200t which depends on imports. The huge caterpillar hydraulic backhoeexcavators have large working equipment quality, which account for a significantproportion of the whole machine quality. To a certain degree, they may cause thewaste of materials and energy. There were Companies who offered to havestructural adjustment for the working equipment of hydraulic excavator, but onlyat the concept stage. Here we base on300tons of the huge caterpillar hydraulicbackhoe excavators, and make study on the lightweight of its working equipmentquality. It is not only reduces the working equipment quality, but also improve theperformance for the huge excavator. The research can provide basic informationfor the development of new products, at the same time, the analysis process andthe results provide reference for the study of the lightweight about theengineering machinery products. The main contents of this paper are the followones.(1) We introduce the current situation of hydraulic excavator industry, thetype and composition of working device. On the message of the market situationof large hydraulic excavator and the research status, we put forward the idea oflightweight research for the working device of large hydraulic excavators, andintroduce both the research situation of lightweight and topology optimizationmethod in the application of lightweight research;(2) This paper collects50-800thuge crawler hydraulic excavator samples of the mainstream brand at home andabroad. Comparative analysis the relationship between the basic parameters andthe quality of whole machine, get the fitted curve of the relationship between thebasic parameters of the excavator and the quality of whole machine, then writethe function expression. Through that we acquire the basic structure size of300tlarge caterpillar backhoe hydraulic excavator, and we use the excavator analysissoftware EXCA (r13.0) to acquire the performance analysis on5kinds ofdangerous working conditions.(3) We set up basic models of300t largecaterpillar backhoe hydraulic excavator. Respectively, we use the finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench to make statics analysis for workingdevice which contain boom and stick in5kinds of dangerous conditions. Byanalyzing the results,we determine the strength and stiffness of the workingdevice and we make sure it beyond the use requirement and need lightweightallowance;(4) We use topology optimization module of ANSYS Workbench tomake topological optimization analysis for working device which contain boomand stick in five kinds of dangerous working conditions. According to the resultof topology optimization,we obtain lightweight model, and put forward advicefor the implementation of lightweight product.(5) We use the finite elementanalysis software ANSYS Workbench to make statics analysis for the lightweightworking device which contains boom and stick in5kinds of dangerousconditions. Although there are some shortcomings, contrast to optimizedperformance and mechanical performance, the rationality of lightweight schemeis verified.
