With the continuous development of material sciences, high strength steelyield strength is constantly refreshed height, currently some companies havebeen able to produce more than the yield strength has reached900MPa highstrength steel, which makes a lot of machinery’s wall thickness of the boomincreasingly thin. For thin-walled structures when subjected to external loads, bending stresses not only the internal structure, and will produce the film stress. And different wall thickness, film stress and bending stress have different ratioof the shares, which are different with thick-walled structures properties. However, the study and a mature theory of thin-walled box structure have little, boom box for thin-walled design or design based on previous methods anddesign experience. For thin-walled box-shaped structure, the strength to meet therequirements under the premise that there are two of the more prominent issues, namely the local stability problem, the second is the dynamic characteristics ofthe problem. In this paper, use the operating arm of aerial work platforms as target tostudy structural statics, dynamics, and the local stability of thin-walled boxboom. Discussed the loads of the working arm. Analyzed the statics problem ofthe operating arm with the analytical method and the finite element method. Andthe results were compared, analyzed the error. For the dynamics of the Operatingarm, modal analysis and transient response analysis were made; work out firsteight natural frequencies and mode shapes of the operating arm. For thetransient response analysis, use the dynamic loads of people on the platform asthe incentive. Work out the response curve of the operating arm. For localstability operations arm of the more prominent issues, using two methods toanalysis and the calculation results are compared and work out error analysis. Finally, according to the previous analysis, do structural optimization for theoperating arm. And verify the optimized results using finite element analysis.
