With the rapid development of social and technology, the level of national life hasbeen continuously improved. More and more security issues in the life cycle ofmechanical products are paid attention gradually. Due to mechanical products on thestructure, performance and function constantly tend to be diversity, various kinds ofdangerous accidents also happened. Although the safety design study of the mechanicalproducts has been a long history, the current study level also cannot fully cope withsome mechanical product safety issues. With the rapid development of the level ofeconomy and science and the appearing of the modern product design methods. Basedon the intuitive design, experience in design and static design, traditional design methodcannot fully meet the requirements of today’s society.As a result, the safety design willbe researched in the paper and the risk of the future life cycle will be identified andevaluated in the stage of production designation.First of all, the modern product design method, combined with the general designprocess of product is applied in this paper. Framework of mechanical product safetydesign based on the safety characteristics is established to give a reference to the personwho works with product design and development. Secondly, An important link in themechanical safety design is risk evaluation, and the definition of risk evaluation andsafety analysis are summed in this paper. What’s more, a method of safety analysis andrisk evaluation are researched to decide risk acceptance criteria of the mechanicalproducts and to evaluate the safety level of mechanical product design. Finally, a grinderis taken for an example to demonstrate the validity of the research of this paper.
