As an important secondary resource of copper, copper slag is at a high grade of Cu, oftenly associated with metals of lead,zinc,gold and silver etc, so it can be recovered and reused valuably. Recovery of Cu from copper slag plays an important role in Cu processing, as copper ores become exhausted.In this paper it takes a refractory copper slag as test sample, its characteristics of component, dissemination and composition are determined by X ray florescence, XRD and multielement analysis respectively, Based on the assay, it shows that the recoverable primary metals are copper, iron, gold and silver in the copper slag, it contains Cu2.39%, Fe45.87%respectively, the grade of Au and Ag is0.10g/t,15.00g/t respectively.in addition, work index of the sample is investigated as well.There are a various type of Copper minerals presented in the slag, and associated with the gangue closely, and the dissemination size of values is considerably uneven in the ore, it makes the recovery of copper minerals from the slag difficult by flotation, moreover as the difference between magnetite and some gangue in density and magnetism is small, it is not easy to separate magnetite from the slag via gravity concentration and magnetic separation.Due to the features of high hardness and hard grinding of copper slag, uneven dissemination size of the values, it achieves that effective liberation and recovery of the values step by step by the stage grinding and stage concentration process,A series of tests on types of reagent, combinations of collector, dosage of reagent, have been done in order to obtain an optimum flowsheet and make a determination of dosage of reagent in Cu recovery process. Moreover researches on recovery of iron minerals from tailing produced by flotation are carried out by means of low intensity magnetic separation.Ultimately the flowsheet of the stage grinding and stage concentration process is determined, and an achievement in recovery of the values from the copper slag to a large extent is made via this way.In the paper it employs the stage grinding and stage concentration process to treat the run-of-mine, and then magnetic separation is used to process the tailing from flotation procedure. In the flotation process a combination of XT-53and Butylamine aerofloat is used as collector,pine oil as frother, by a combination closed-circuit flowsheet of a stage roughing, two stage cleaning and two stage scavenging, it can obtain a final product containing25.20%Cu,0.80g/tAu,136.8g/tAg respectively, correspondingly at a recovery of87.82%、67.36%and76.79%. tailing from the flotation process is disposed by magnetic separation, an iron concentarte containing Fe58.90%at a recovery of14.28%, can be obtained.A relative simple scheme is used in this paper, it can’t only produce good products in performance, but puts a path for the copper slag separation as well.
