Based on the comprehensive analysis on similar material, similarity theory, landslide model, etc, made the problems existing in the research of landslide model clear, combined with the Yunnan laterite type landslide, put forward the subject "choice study of Yunnan laterite landslide model similar material". This subject against Kunming yangzonghai laterite and choose imitation porcelain powder, iron powder and sand as similar material, has carried out physical and mechanical properties of single and composite similar material, carried out the clay landslide model similarity ratio of materials research, comparative study, carried out the proportion and comparison research on laterite landslide model test that are important for deeply revealing the mechanism of occurrence and development of Yunnan laterite landslide.Result of single similar material experiment indicates that with the add of send and imitation ceramic powder, specific gravity of laterite reduces due to the change of grain composition. With the increase of content and the extention of time, mechanics characteristic of laterite deteriorates. With the add of iron powder, specific gravity of laterite increases and mechanics characteristic meliorates. The change of physics and mechanics characteristic of mixture laterite results from the interaction of grain and similar material. The reason of mixture laterite pysics and mechanics characteristic is that with the add of imitaton ceramic powder, laterite is corroded and water content is decreased and with the add of iron powder, oxidation and cementation and absorption produces. And with the add of sand, cementation and filling action takes place.Consider imitation porcelain powder, sand, iron powder, the ratio of3factors3levels orthogonal of composite materials test, the results show that the:Physical and mechanical parameters of similar materials under different mixture ratio distribution, basic can satisfy the requirements of the clay landslide of similar material model; The impact of various factors through the analysis of the process, Get the proportion of iron powder on the samples, its compression coefficient and compression modulus is controlled, Similar is derived through dimensional analysis in various physical and mechanical indexes, Found no.3, close to analog simulation requirements, Ultimately determine the reasonable mixing ratio of similar materials as the clay landslide model imitation porcelain powder, sand, iron powder, laterite content was15%,20%,5%and60%respectively.The results of comparative test between similar material clay landslide model and laterite landslide model show that density of similar material is too big and permeability is poor lead to the rain is difficult to model in vivo, and can only through the surface to produce surface crack and local slid of angle and top of slope. Because laterite’s permeability and compactness are relatively better, rainwater is able to dip slope to produce deep cracks,and overall landslide occurred. According to the comparative test results, can be appropriately to improve reasonable proportion of similar material clay landslide model.
