On The Role Of The Communist Youth League In College Students’ Political Socialization

The education of ideological and political and moral trait for college students is basicrequirements for the colleges and other teaching organizations. Carrying out this work notonly can improve the quality of college students’ character, but also helps the realization theirpolitical socialization. Now the status of political socialization is rising, it is extremelynecessary to instill political culture and political socialization for college students, who willbe successors to the construction of the socialist cause and the future hopes of China’sdevelopment. Communist Youth League (CYL) as an organization owning most of youth andcollege students is the best organization for spreading ideological and political. Therefore, thestudy of CYL’s effects in political socialization of college students has a strong practicalsignificance.This thesis is based on political theory and related subjects, using the methods ofliterature, comparison and questionnaire, which studies and investigates the problems of therole of the CYL for the political socialization of college students; also analyze the currentsituation, influencing factors, and countermeasures for improving the political socialization ofuniversity students. This paper is divided into four parts.Part one, the connotation and functionality of political socialization for college students.In this part, the content and features of political socialization of college students are expandeddetail. Students’ Political socialization is the object of political socialization among groups ofstudents limited, mainly referring to students in the political norms body interaction, politicalknowledge by learning to master the political skills, internalized political norms, a certainpolitical consciousness and behavior capabilities, and ultimately the formation of politicalattitudes perfect political personality in the process. Students’ Political socializationcontributes to the dissemination of political socialization mainstream culture, to maintainsocial stability, to improve political development, and to ultimately make it portrayedqualified citizens.Part two, the current situation of CYL for political socialization of college students. This section discusses the affect, analysis the achievements, and points out the shortcomings ofpolitical socialization of the CYL. CYL consolidates the party’s mass base in universities,promotes the political and cultural construction of college, provides with more opportunitiesfor students to participate in political activities, improves political literacy of college students,and forms a unique new pattern of moral education. However, there are still many areas needto improve. For example: social functionalities organized by the CYL are not sufficient, theeffectiveness of ideological and political education needs to be improved coordination withother departments is not enough, the lack of system specifications campus cultural activities,etc., which require further improvement of the CYL organizations.Part three, factors affect the role of CYL in political socialization of college students.The functionalities of CYL suffer from various aspects, not only from all walks of life, butalso for their own reasons and the factors affecting its role to play. In summary, there are fourmain reasons: the insufficient understanding of the role of CYL in political socialization forcollege student, both university and government leaders and CYL itself are all lack ofunderstanding; insufficient research and communication of some CYL seriously hinders therelationship of CYL and outside; neglect of the CYL affiliated societies norms and guidance;Youth League cadres own problems, poor quality and decreasing quantity.Part four, enhance the main countermeasures of the Communist Youth League’s role inthe political socialization of university students. In the context of today’s social marketeconomy and the reform and opening up the deepening of higher education system hascontinued to change, the Communist Youth League organization based on job requirements,work environment as well as the background of the times has undergone tremendous changes.In order to cope with change, it is necessary to enhance the countermeasures. Five mainpoints are discussed: to strengthen understanding of the importance of the role of theCommunist Youth League in the political socialization of university students for the futurework of the Communist Youth League is perfect; to extended job functions, improve theappeal of the Communist Youth League; to strengthen the Communist Youth League underthe political community of the role of the student organizations; to strengthen its own contingent of cadres of the Communist Youth League organizations; to establish internaloperational mechanism of the Communist Youth League.
