| In recent years, the rapid, growing urbanization brings a new type of population-newgeneration of migrant workers. On January31st,2010, the State Council promulgated thefirst policy document of the year-Opinions on Strengthening Rural and UrbanDevelopment and the Basis for Agricultural and Rural Development, putting forward theword “new generation of migrant workersâ€. Summarizingthe problems of similar population in other countries and countermeasures as well asfindings on their views and values conducted by domestic scholars, the author makes aquestionnaire survey on their living status, employment, social security and so on, therebyconcluding their positive and negative features of views in the process of gettingcitizenship.Then, the author conducts his study with the causes in terms of home village, employment,social contact, politics, consumption and psychology. In terms of home village, because ofdual structure of city and countryside as well as unsound household registration system,new generation of migrant workers have weaker awareness of home village. As foremployment, since they have insufficient self-knowledge and suffer fromskipped-generation, they are unfit for a higher post but unwilling to take a lower one intheir work. With respect to social contact, due to utilitarian social influence and unsoundsocial environment, they are mostly led by utilitarianism in their contact. In terms ofpolitics, because of social identity and regional difference, they are likely to bemarginalized in political participation. For consumption, influenced by family economicconditions and prevailing consumption in advance, they are likely to consume irrationally.When it comes to their psychology, they are fickle and self-abased, their ideal and realityhas a huge gap, and they pay undue attention to ideological and political education. As aresult, they bring some awareness not beneficial to being harmonized.Lastly, in view of the cause analysis, the author proposes corresponding countermeasuresincluding advancing the reform of household registration system, improving social reliefsystem, helping new generation of migrant workers build correct attitude towardemployment, perfecting social environment, strengthening their ideological and politicaleducation, guiding them through their household and mass media, and so forth. To someextent, their views and values represent their trend in the awareness. Therefore, enhancing the study on their views and values has significance for building of the harmonious society. |
