Analysis Of Energy Cooperation Between China And Russia

With the rapid development of world economy, since2000, the world energy demand continuously increase. Because of China’s natural endowment, we faced very severe energy situation now and the energy security problem has become an unavoidable problem. Owing to globalization, the energy issue is not only an economic problem but also an international political problem, and energy is seen as an important tool of geopolitical. Faced with the problem, cooperation between countries is the inevitable means to cope with this situation. Meanwhile, the bilateral energy cooperation between China and Russia will give play to their respective advantages so that to achieve the purpose of mutual benefit and win-win results. This paper attempts to analysis the advantages and the disadvantages of the cooperation, and put forward reasonable suggestions to promote the level of the energy cooperation between the two countries.This paper use of international politics theory, interdependence theory, geopolitics theory, and research by the analysis of data and literature method, research method of international relations, etc. Article mainly divides into four parts. The first part analyses the current world energy situation and the energy situation in our country, then points out the problems of energy security in China. In second part, it first studies the current energy situation of Russia, including Russian energy reserves, energy production, energy consumption and energy exports. And then analyses Russian energy strategy, especially the external energy strategy and to China’s energy policy. The third part firstly reviewed the history of Russia energy cooperation with China, and then explores the present situation of the energy cooperation between China and Russia for studies the problems of the energy cooperation between the two countries to analyses the causes of these problems. Finally, it discusses the positive and negative factors of the energy cooperation between the two countries. The fourth part in view of the sino-russian energy cooperation problem, put forward the corresponding policy recommendations.
