Analysis On The Role Of Local Government In The Inheritance Of Traditional Urban Culture

A national prosperity is inseparable from cultural prosperity and development.The construction of socialist cultural power is the inevitable choice that thecommunist Party of China led the people to build socialism. The Chinese traditionalculture not only is the national treasure, but also is the root to build our culturalpower.Inherit traditional culture and construct the cultural power must be payattention to every city of cultural heritage. The urban traditional culture isnot only to the construction of the modern city with a rich architectural experience,but also to the spirit of modern urban construction rely on and support,institutional constraints and guarantee. The traditional culture of the city canbe divided into material culture, system culture and spiritual culture, has richcontents and great historical value, academic value, economic value, aestheticvalue and social value. But, local government has a lot of problems such asinadequate protection, over-exploitation and insufficient, lead to the urbantraditional culture faces destroyed and disappeared. Local governments should befully aware of that it role is the protector, successor and developer of traditionalurban culture. The local government should comply with the guidance of thescientific concept of development; make the urban traditional culture be protectedin the development. So that lay a foundation for the revival of the chinatraditional culture and the construction of socialist culture-powerful country.Article Xiping County, Henan Province as the research object, through fieldinvestigation local government inherit the traditional city culture’s behaviorand results, and combine Xiping two projects’ case analysis, summarize the Xipinggovernment in inherit local urban cultures’ merits and shortcomings. Thegovernment of Xiping acts as the basis, the author provides some suggestions forother local governments to built cultural city.
