Objective Resilience is an inner psychological potential which the individual canmobilize all resources to achieve good adaptation of in the context of frustration topursue their own protection and harmonious development. Resilience is closely anddirectly linked with individuals’ health. Positive psychology began to rise in the UnitedStates since the end of the twentieth century, Seligman, father of the positivepsychology movement of pointed that psychology has entered the cure of a diseasemodel since World War II, Luckily, a few scholars clearly understand that this extremeattention neglected on those positive features of psychology. Positive psychologyemphasizes the excavations of people’s potential virtues and strengths, which from adifferent perspective to develop psychology and exert the function to humanity. As anindividual stress coping resources, resilience became a hot topic of positivepsychology, since it can mobilize individuals potential to resist the negative effects ofstress effectively. Most current researches on resilience are on the theoretical level, thisstudy attempts to combine group counseling intervention and positive psychology tomake interventions on college students. And confirming that resilience can beintervented, which will provide theoretical and practical basis for the college students’mental health in the future.Methods This study is a randomized experimental design, experimental group and control group before and after the measurement and tracking tests. The subjects were60normal college students and highly matched on age, gender and education level, ofwhich30were in the experimental group and30were in the control group. Theexperimental group participated in a2.5h group counseling once a week, and the groupcounseling last six-week; while the normal control group was in natural learning state,not participating in any group counseling and individual counseling at all. Both the twogroups participated in the before and after test, and a tracking tests six months later.Using the Chinese version (CD-RISC) resilience scale.Results Pre and post-test and follow-up tests after six months showed that:①Theindependent samples t test before the intervention shown that the control group andthere were no significant difference between the experimental group and the controlgroup(t=-0.210,P>0.05), they were homogeneous.②The experimental group scoredin resilience scale was significantly improved after the intervention, showing astatistically significant difference [(91.37±11.88)vs(95.37±10.89), t=-3.852, P<0.001],Meanwhile the experimental group in mental toughness significant pre-test and followafter six months also has differences [(91.37±11.88)vs(97.40±10.63),t=-3.716,P<0.001].③The score of control group in resilience scale pre and post test[(92.00±11.48) vs(92.10±9.90), t=-0.025, P>0.05] and the pretest and half year tracktest [(92.00±11.48)vs(92.50±9.69),t=-0.339, P>0.05],had no significant differences.Conclusion The resilience can be intervented and group counseling based onpositive psychology has a positive intervention effect on the resilience of collegestudents.
