Study Of Spread And Acceptance Of Zhou Bangyan’s Ci-poetry

Zhou Bangyan plays an important role in the history of Ci-poetry. He forms aconnecting link between the preceding and the following. Influenced by Liu Yong, heforms an elegant style in the writing of Ci-poetry. During the spread of his Ci-poetry, hehas a great influence on the other writers in the following generations. In this paper, I willanalyze the spread and acceptance of his Ci-poetry in Song, Yuan, Ming, and QingDynasties, so that we can appreciate the artistic charm of his Ci-poetry in differentbackgrounds.This paper has three chapters in total. In Chapter One, I will discuss the spread andacceptance of Zhou’s Ci-poetry in Song Dynasty. In this chapter the social background, theanthology of his works, and his influence on other writers will be introduced. Through this,we can find out why Zhou becomes so famous in the Southern Song Dynasty, while in theNorthern Song Dynasty, people don’t appreciate his works that much. In Chapter Two, thespread and acceptance of Zhou’s Ci-poetry in Yuan and Ming Dynasties will be discussed.During this period, people pay little attention to Ci-poetry, and the academics have totallydifferent judgments on Zhou’s works. However, Zhou’s Ci-poetry still has strong vitality inthis period. It comes to the spread and acceptance of Zhou’s Ci-poetry in Qing Dynasty inChapter Three. There are variety ways for his works to be spread in Qing Dynasty. He ispraised highly by the group of both Zhexi and Changzhou. In this period，people comparehim with Du Fu, which means he has reached the peak of his career.
