Language is the symbol of culture, culture is the tunnel of language, language andculture are inextricably interlinked. Therefore, how to combine the language teaching andculture teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language has become an importantproblem. The idiom is called the "living fossil" of language and it is a special kind of wordthat contains rich cultural significance. Because of the particularity of idioms, students cannot truly understand the meaning behind the idioms because of cultural differences, whichleads to a lot of biases. So, culture teaching is very important in idiom teaching.In this paper,"Chinese Language Vocabulary and outline hierarchy"(hereinafterreferred to as the "Outline") and "The new HSK outline level HSK1-6"(hereinafterreferred to as the "Syllabus") is modeled, and think of the difference between Chinese andWestern culture, we divided the idioms into four categories from the perspective of culture,including moral、 auspicious blessing、 food and clothing and religion. Then, we find theidioms that can be classified to the four categories accounted for2/3proportions in the"Outline" and "Syllabus".After the classification, we list15typical words as a test to test the level of high gradestudents that come from the west. From the test, we understand the situation and the resultswere analyzed. At the same time, some popular Chinese teaching materials have beeninvestigated, some problems in idiom arrangement and interpretation are found.The third chapter is the focal point of this article. On the basis of the research above,the author put forward four feasible teaching method: culture comparison、the method offinding by hard and thorough search、visual experience and independent design. The firsttwo methods are focus on how to "teach", the two after methods are focus on how to"learn". For each method, the author first to relate and analyze the method combined withsome typical words,then enumerates some examples to show.
