Abstract/Summary:
The development of Chinese characters entered another spontaneous chaotic period just like the turbulent and unrest pattern of the times in The Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties. The seal script,li calligraphy,kai characterstics,cursive scripts,running hand were used simultaneously and mingled with each other which seemed no rules at all.The inheritance and variation were themes of the glyph,and the former led the specific direction of its development. There were series of new glyph produced at the time. The spices were diverse and the situation was quite complicated. Studying the new fonts is a great aid and adventage in grasping the historical development of Chinese characters, investigating the origins of the fonts,inspecting the evolution of the character, and then exploring the configuration mode of Chinese characters and its development. In The Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties, the civilization continued to progress, with the improvement of social production and material living standards, the Chinese were becoming increasingly sophisticated and rich which made the Chinese vocabulary system get corresponding development. Due to the increasing amount of vocabulary, a lot of new words began to appearance. The new generation of words played an important role in deepening understanding of the development of social, economic, historical,cultural and other aspects of this particular period. For the reason that the use of words lack of specification, the variants began erupting, and a great number of different writing start occurrence. Collation and studies these new variant fonts, analysis the various manifestations of Chinese characters, dessect the characteristics of the times, which would conducive to accurately reveal the historical route and the regular of the development of Chinese characters. At the same time, it would provide a useful reference for the reform of Chinese characters.The stone carving literature, as an important part of excavated documents, basically has not been changed, so the authenticity is strong which could provide material protection for the study of history dating. Mostly stone inscriptions were made by engraving, so the nicking tools were the real writing instuments, and it would made the glpyhs had just a limited space for the divergence. However, we could used the erratically and interlocking shape change of the specific situation to clarity the development context and the mutual relationship of the glpyhs, in order to provide important support for the further reveal of the law. The stone has a good hardness and wear resistance and the text was chiseled deeply, so the font could saved relatively comlete. The Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties was an important period of development of ancient stone, for the reason that the shapes of stone were virtually certained, the species also gradually completed and the content inreasingly became rich. Meanwhile, large amount of carvings were unearthed in this period and the species were diversity, to ensue that there would had enough words material and corpus for related research. In the same time, the stone carving characters were practicability words, which had a widespread social foundation and high utilization rate. Therefore, they could accurately reflected the basic features of social words during this period. Compared with the contemporaneous other slips of the excavated materials such as bambooslips and silks, paper documents, the carved stone literature was superior to the fotmer at the quantity, contents, integrity and the extent of organizing research. Based on this, we use the stone literature in this period as the material of new glyphs’study. This thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter, introduction. Three specific points, including the purpose and meaning of the research, the current situation of the study, and the specific methods and principles in the process of research.The second chapter, the definition and classification of the new glyph of the stone carvings in The Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties. To clarify the relationship between the font and the typeface, determine the standards of new glyphs and classify them.The third chapter, the analysis of the generation types of the new glyphs in the stone carvings of The Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties. Using the modern configuration to differ the new words and the new variant characters. The former contain two categories, that is synthesised by senses and mixed by sense and pronunciation. The latter is include shorthanding, increasing complexity, homologation. merged by mistake, erroneous transformation, displacement, substitution, regeneration, coherence and the blend between the fonts. The fourth chapter, the analysis of the configuration modes and motivation of the new glyphs in stone carvings of The Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties. There actually have three types of configuration pattern in the new fonts, namely senses synthesis, pronunciation synthesis and sound synthesis. The motivation acts as four types, namely existing the half reason, completely losting the justifications, unkowning the rationale and refactoring.The fifth chapter, the characteristics and causes analysis of the new glyphs in stone carvings of The Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties. We also distinguish the new words and new variant characters when revealing the characteristics. At the same time,we analysis the causes of concrete into six particular aspects.
