The study of the Chinese glossary between Han, Wei, Jin & Northern and Southern Dynasties is quite weak. The past study of Chinese glossary in this period centralized mostly about the explanation of material words and expressions, especially the unusual words and expressions and the difficulty words and expressions. Few people classify and probe into the rules of bringing, development and evolvement of words. The language materials of the stone inscription between Wei, Jin & Northern and Southern Dynasties are quite abundance and have great philological authenticity and characteristics, which are the important materials for the study of Chinese history. The paper aims at the words and expressions about age of the materials, studying systemically and roundly from lingual and culture aspects to open out the rules of bringing, development and evolvement of words and acceptation, find out the immanent relation between words and summarize theirs characteristics and rules. It is valuable not only to the study of glossary between Wei, Jin & Northern and Southern Dynasties but also to the study of entire history of Chinese glossary.The paper uses mainly these theories of common linguistics, lexicology and so on, absorbing adequately the successful experience of traditional lexicology and banding them together to study the words and expressions about age and analyze their cultural connotation from different angles and trends. Our studying is confined in stone inscription between Wei, Jin & Northern and Southern Dynasties to open out the bringing, development and evolvement of these words, based on combining the unearthed literatures with literatures handed down from ancient times and combining synchronous study with diachronic research.The whole article falls into three chapters. The first chapter introduces the holistic visage and ways of bringing of the words and Expressions about age in stone inscription between Wei, Jin & Northern and Southern Dynasties, and probes into the causes of bringing and being used largely. The second chapter discusses their characters from the aspects of semantic and structural mostly and analyzes the aggregation in same acceptation and root about age words. At last, the content was analyzed in culture from opening out social culture reflected by the words and Expressions about age, such as etiquette system, thinking and concept, life style, educational system and so on.
