Since twentieth Century, our country has excavated a plenty of bamboo slip and silk documents. Changsha Zoumalou’s Bamboo Slips in Wu Dynasty is one of them. This material is not only a huge number, but the content is very rich, including coupon book, judicial document, household registration, account book and so an. They not only reflect the regional economic relationships, social interaction, folk customs and other informations in Wu Dynasty, but also provide a basis for the study on the language of this period for future generations. The research datas about Wu Dynasty re rarely left for people’s study because of numerous wars, so the excavation of Changsha Zoumalou’s Bamboo Slips in Wu Dynasty has a very important and far-reaching significance.This paper takes Changsha Zoumalou’s Bamboo Slips in Wu Dynasty as material. After exhaustive searching from character frequency, we sort out eight hundred and forty-one Chinese characters appearing only once and study on them. From studying on them, we can not only know more about the partial characters in Wu Dynasty but also figure out the forms of Chinese characters and use-friendly trajectory. Although the characters in Changsha Zoumalou’s Bamboo Slips can’t fully reflect the application and development outlook of the characters in Wu Dynasty, they can still provide important clues for us to study the characters in this period.This paper includes five parts:The first chapter,"Introduction". Introduce the significance of the paper, the research status of the material, the research status of character frequency and the character appearing only once, the research ideas and ways.The second chapter, we count the number of the Chinese characters appearing only once in Changsha Zoumalou’s Bamboo Slips in Wu Dynasty, then we study on the characteristics of these Chinese characters appearing only once and explain why there are so many Chinese characters appearing only once in Changsha Zoumalou’s Bamboo Slips in Wu Dynasty.The third chapter, we study on the structures of the Chinese characters appearing only once in Changsha Zoumalou’s Bamboo Slips in Wu Dynasty, including planar structure, deep structure, building structure.The fourth chapter, we study on the special usage of the Chinese characters appearing only once in Changsha Zoumalou’s Bamboo Slips in Wu Dynasty, including the variant characters, the interchangeable characters, the ancient and modern characters, and the misused characters.The fifth chapter, We study on the vitality of the Chinese characters appearing only once in Changsha Zoumalou’s Bamboo Slips in Wu Dynasty, including how many Chinese characters appearing only once develop to today and how many Chinese characters appearing only once died during their development. Then study on when and why these dead Chinese characters appearing only once died.
