In recent years, the continuous improvement on Chinese health care level has attracted alarge number of foreign students to study medicine in China, within which the India studentsaccounting for a large proportion. People can often see them shuttling through the medicalcolleges.Along with the continuous influx of a large number of the medical students, the issuewhich is based on the study of teaching Chinese to medical overseas students has been put onthe agenda, which is not much at present. In this paper,investigation and study focus on theproblems in the primary Chinese learning of India medical overseas students, including threeaspects: first is investigation on the Chinese learning situation for the particularity of themedical students, including Chinese learning motivation and adaptation of class teaching,then putting forward some opinions and suggestions; second is investigation summary onChinese language and culture learning difficulties of India medical students, includingpronunciation, Chinese characters, vocabulary, grammar and cross-culture communication;third is the analysis of the difficulty problem based on the survey results and some feasiblecountermeasures are put forward, which is in the hope of helpful to the Chinese teaching andlearning of India medical students.There is particularity of Chinese learning of India medical students. The topic researcherhas found through survey that the interest in learning Chinese is not high of India medicalstudents, whose most important motivation is communication. They cannot adapt well to theclass teaching, with learning and living habits aggravating this situation. Medical schoolshould formulate management model and organizational scheme suitable for their life andstudy based on the full understanding of India culture. Besides, Chinese teachers shouldimprove their teaching quality constantly and strengthen the communication with students.After the investigation summary and analysis on Chinese language and culture learningdifficulties of India medical students, researcher put forward some feasible countermeasures:For pronunciation, take a variety of exercise forms based on the learning difficulties,which should be focused to practice then major breakthroughs can be made. Tongue twister is a good choice. Another good way is listening practice, which can enhance students’ speechperception and discrimination.For Chinese characters, a variety of problems emerge in stroke, component and thewhole word level. Careful explanation should be carried out from teachers in the three levels,with another task of enhancing the interest of Chinese characters teaching.For vocabulary, teachers should pay more attention on the visual teaching, morphemeteaching and words in the real environment. A proper explanation is necessary to the Chineseculture to enhance the understanding of the words.For grammar, different forms of exercises based on the learning difficulties can beadopted, which is helpful to the grammar learning.For cross-culture communication, proper induction of Chinese culture is welcomedbased on the textbook and interests of students. Water without a source should be avoided.
