| Nowadays, the concept of lifelong education has deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Compulsory education alone is far from satisfying the learning needs of society. More and more adults choose to go on studying for novelty degree improvement and occupation skill training. In this thesis, the author investigates the motivation of adult learners on current situation of adult learning education.Adopting questionnaires for the front-end analysis of the motivational variables of adult learners, this thesis points out that learning attitude, interest in the English language, teachers, self-efficacy and language anxiety exert greater influence on efforts expended in learning English, learning aims and textbooks also correlate with efforts to some extent. All the variables do not affect motivational behavior in an isolated way, but form an interrelated chain. Therefore, teachers should pay attention to the influences of each variable as well as their correlation. Finally, the author put forward some teaching strategy for stimulating the motivation of adult English learners based on the result of questionnaire analysis.This thesis is divided into6chapters as below:Chapter1, an introduction of the background, signification and purpose of the research mentioned in this paper.Chapter2, an briefing of related documents on the definition of motivation as well as motivation researching theories, summarization and analysis from scholars both home and abroad.Chapter3, features of adult and adult learner. Chapter4, instruments, procedures and methods of the experiment.Chapter5, analysis of experiment result.Chapter6, a conclusion of the thesis, pointing out the limitation of this research and some suggestions for further study.This research proves that in the scope of this research, the implementation of teaching strategies can inspire the internal motivations of the adult learners, which thus provides certain reference for teachers to improve the teaching efficiency of adult education. |
