Based onthe relations between migrants and dialect evolution, we try to find out the influence on theevolution of liaoxi dialect from the migrants since the late Ming Dynasty and early QingDynasty. The essay comes to the conclusion that migrants from Hebei and Shandong movedinto Liaoxi where the multi-dialect environment formed; the migrants’ dialects wereinfluenced by the local dialect, and they also influence the local dialect. Finally the migrants’dialects won the local dialect over on some language features because of the extensive andcontinuous contact. The modern Liaoxi dialect came into being.
