Tan lives in the period of late Qing dynasty. He began to seriously ponder on theway of the national development and independence after shocked by Sino-JapaneseWar Failure. He was actively campaigning for national revival.Seeking prosperity ofthe country in political activities and social practices. He firmly saved the nation fromperil, to join in Reformation Movement. His political views and reform ideas mainlyappeared in his book "Benevolence".There are fifty chapters in the book "Benevolence". Various ideas such astraditional Confucian ideology dominated philosophers, Buddhist, Westernreligion.science and sociology are drawn in the book. He explained some conceptssuch as "benevolence","pass","ether","effort" and other important concepts, andelaborated the relationships between these concepts. Building a system basedBenevolence and equal". It is regarded as the first works based on benevolence. Thebook aims to provide some guidelines and specific measures for the physical act ofReformation Movement. And then lay the theoretical foundation for the idea of oneworld.Although there are some unrealistic and not rigorous comments in the book.But we can’t deny the fact that Tan had a heated criticism on feudal absolutism. Somecomments on social, political, economic, cultural and other advocates not onlyreflected Tan’s fraternity mind, but reflected his efforts in the way of seeking politicalreform.From the moment when Tan determined to changed the world. His thinking wasinjected into the infinite vigor and vitality. He regarded the traditional "benevolence"as the source of all things. And advocate the core values of modernsociety which are instilled into these the relationships among countries and regions."Benevolence " is a remarkable works when facing with the differences betweenChina and abroad. He claimed we should develop in the way of "base on western "rather than "base on China ".This useful exploration of China’s modern way is notonly a negation of feudal autocratic drawbacks,but it is a useful attempt to advocatenational salvation of the whole society.
