Research On Pause-connect Patterns Of Broadcadcasting In Linguistic Perspective

By reading a large number of references, the author found that scholars paid moreattention to pause-connect theory, while ignoring the purpose and function ofpause-connect research in the use of communicating forms in broadcasting discourses.Broadcasting pause-connect research often remains on the level of experience. Due tothe lack of previous studies, the “pause-connect” phenomenon of broadcastinglanguage has not been fully explained, which leads the construction of broadcastingtheory and guidelines of broadcasting practice existing shortcomings. Therefore, withthe explanation of “pause-connect” on the experience level in the perspective oflinguistic theory, and the quantitative analysis, the communicative function oflanguage and voice performance integrate and establish appropriate “pause-connect”patterns. By quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis of “pause-connect” under thelinguistic theory, the thesis attempts to expand the theoretical space of broadcastinglanguage studies.This thesis makes in-depth analysis and research of pause-connect questions ofbroadcasting language from the perspective of linguistic theory. It involves in"pause-connect" function (summarizing broadcasting practice and expressive featuresof previous studies relating to "pause-connect", carried by an explanation from theperspective of the communicative function of language),"pause-connect" time types(making quantitative analysis of "pause-connect" phenomena to identify the"pause-connect" linear flow at different times, summarizing as "pause-connect" typewith apparent differences),"pause-connect" patterns (integrating the " pause-connect "function and "pause-connect" time types to construct "pause-connect" patterns ofbroadcasting language). The explanation of "pause-connect" function determines thevalue of "pause-connect"; and "pause-connect" time types are the voice performance of"pause-connect" function implementation;"pause-connect" patterns are the patterns forfunction and voice performance as a whole. It is an interpretation of the ultimate goalto be achieved. The specific studies are as follows:The first chapter examines the background of this research. Meanwhile, Chapterone introduces the value, contents and methodologies of this thesis.Chapter two summarizes previous research, and clarifies language performance function of pause-connect patterns.Chapter three analyzes pause-connect patterns in radio broadcasting TV programs.In radio broadcasting TV programs, even if the contents are in the same words, withdifferent tones, pause-connects, pacing, their spreading effects are different. With thequantitative analysis of pause-connect patterns in different categories of broadcastinglanguages, the thesis obtains the main patterns of pause-connect expressions ofbroadcasting TV programs.Chapter four analyzes pause-connect patterns in literary genres broadcasting.According to the different literary genres performance practices, it leads to differentpause-connect patterns. The thesis makes comparative studies about pause-connectpatterns among these subjects (fiction, prose, poetry, drama) of famous classical worksof artists, it obtains pause-connect expressive patterns in literary genres broadcasting.Chapter five analyzes pause-connect patterns of broadcasting language.Broadcasting language can not only rely on the text of the manuscript as a pausepunctuation or connection, but pause or connect after analyzing sentence structures ofthe manuscript. In this chapter, it explores the sentence structures from pause-connectposition, pause-connect pattern and pause-connect duration of broadcasting language,and draws several conclusions.Chapter six makes comparative analyses of pause-connect patterns inbroadcasting language and daily used language. Broadcasting and speaking are thereflection of communication and psychological activities. However, daily usedlanguage is relatively plain, casual and vulgar, while broadcasting language isrelatively elegant and perfect. Pause-connect patterns of daily used language areinfluenced by speakers’ habits, language environment. Their duration, position, rhythmand pacing will vary with different patterns. The duration of broadcasting withmanuscript is longer, as it can trigger listeners’ associations and sensuous works.Pause-connect patterns can not arbitrarily pause and uncontrolled prolong pause. Itshould be carefully figured out in order to avoid misunderstanding the meaning withpause. The position of pause-connect must meet the specifications of sentencestructures, with appropriate usage to reflect the artistic expression of the manuscript.Chapter seven analyze the era characteristics of news broadcasting’spause-connect patterns. Pause-connect patterns of news broadcasting are closelyconnected with times, society, culture, self-cultivation and nations, with strong era adhesion. By gathering the reviews, the audio data and the video data of famousbroadcasters and anchors, this chapter carries out history research and empiricalanalysis of pause-connect patterns in broadcasting language from different eras, andobtains the characteristics of broadcasting’s pause-connect patterns under differenteras.Chapter eight gives a conclusion of the research. The limition and the trendencein future of the topic are also mentioned here.In this thesis, it takes a large number of sonogram samples, chart data to conductthe in-depth analysis of the problem of above pause-connect broadcasting patterns. Theresearch not only relates to the problem itself, but also involves the further analysisabout the certain relevant sub-problems. Viewpoints of thesis broaden the researchspace of linguistic theory, and provide theoretical support for the broadcasting practiceand broadcasting teaching as well.
