Deng, Shiru (1743-1805). He was given the name of Yan, and the courtesy name of Shiru,also was known by the pseudonym, Wanbo.He changed his name to Shiru, and the courtesy name of Wanbo, also the pseudonym as Wanbai Shanren, Longshan Qiaozhang, Fengshui Yuzhang, Jiyou Daoren, Guhuanzi and so on, at Jiaqing frist year (1796). He was a native of Huaining, Anhui. Bao Shichen (1775-1855) wrote in his Guo Chao Shu Pin:"Deng, Shim’s Lishu and Zhuanshu deserve the first one on Kamijina, and Deng Shim’s Fenshu and Zhenshu beyond the Taeshina." Kang, Youwei(1858-1927) said in his "Guangyizhoushuangji Zunbei Dier":"In Huaining there was an old man appearing at the right time, and became the culmination of Lishu and Zhuanshu." As the Beixue Ideology rise up, Deng, Shim became the master of the Beixue in Qing Dynasty.As records say:" Deng, Shim’s copy’ShiChen Bei’,’Huashan Bei’,’Baishishenjun’,’Zhang Qian’,’PanXiaoguan’,’Kongxian’,’Shouchan’,’Da Xiang’ fifty times for each one in three years and mastered in the Lishu." He learned from a wide range of copy and formed his own face of Lishu on the basis of absorbing all Hanbei. Zhao Zhijian commented:"Shanren is known as his Lishu."Therefore, this thesis discuss his Lishu achievements by the analysis of his learning process, learning objects, calligraphy ideas, etc. You will see the reason for his ability of opening cases, and leading trends. And descript Deng, Shim’s status and influence by comparing with the Lishu by other Calligraphers at his similar era.
