| Self-abasement is a crucial psychological phenomenon of middle school students. Because the period of middle school is the time when children turn into juvenile, the primary task of this period is to obtain self-identity so as to prevent role-confusion. Juvenile of this period are highly self-concerned and would easily develop problems of deficiency in self-awareness or of negative self-evaluation which would further develop into the feeling of inferiority. In some places, the left-behind children that have been frequently discussed form an important part of middle-school students. However, whether the feeling of inferiority of the left-behind children in rural area is stronger than that of the non-left-behind children is yet undetermined. Therefore, before discussing the effect of group psychotherapy of alleviating the feeling of inferiority of middle-school students, this thesis examines the differences of the inferiority between the left-behind and the non-left-behind children.Research no.1examines the differences of the feeling of inferiority between the rural children that are left behind and that are not left behind by means of questionnaires, interviews, profile and data analysis. The result shows that the level of the factor and that of inferior feeling do not make large difference between the two comparing groups.Research no.2has therapeutic interventions on selected students who have stronger feeling of inferiority by means of group psychotherapy. Comparing the test group and control group before and after the experiment, we found that a reasonable group counseling is the basic guarantee of the psychotherapy.
