| Ancestral hall is a place for ancestral worship and sacrifice, and a family’s the center of political rights, reflecting the humanity and humanism of people by paying respect to ancestors.Rucheng County in Chenzhou City, known as the "hometown of the ancient shrine," is a typical representative architecture in south Hunan. With more than710ancient shrine buildings in the county, they are nationally known for their large-scale and wide range. As a cultural entity, ancestral halls are deeply influenced by Chu Wu culture and Confucianism in the process of development, showing the unique characteristics of the ancestral culture of local area, the role of architectural forms, decorative arts, folk customs and other aspects. Regarding the traditional Chinese philosophy of feng shui as a starting point, this paper explores historical and cultural value of Rucheng halls, trying to dissect this kind of culture and make it better inherited and developed.This paper combines theory and practice as its research methods. Firstly, getting to know the origin, development, present situation and social functions of RUCHENG ancestral halls; secondly, collecting literature data, and analyzing the link between Rucheng hall and feng shui, as well as the social influence Rucheng ancestral halls suffered from mainstream culture in the development process; thirdly, analyzing feng shui culture from the space, decoration and creative technology of ancestral hall architectures, and elaborating the application of traditional Chinese feng shui theory in Rucheng ancestral halls; Finally, summarizing the problems found in the course of the study, giving advice for improvement, and ultimately making preparation for better heritage and development of Rucheng ancestral halls culture. |
