Study On Yong Un Notes

Fucheng XUE was a famous politician and thinker in the late Qing Dynasty, especially well-known for his trenchant essays on statecraft. However, Fucheng XUE was good at not only political prose but also classical fiction, such as Yong Un Notes, which was composed with profound skills. Yong Un Notes depicts world affairs and folk anecdotes,simultaneously blending ghosts, monsters and fox angel in stories, which are considered as excellent works with considerable depth.Since Qing Dynasty, people have been interested in studying XUE’s political and diplomatic thoughts and rarely paid attention to his works Yong Un Note, so that there is no systemic studies focused on this works. This paper aims at discussing the value of Yong Un Note by using a rather comprehensive approach to explore the creative process, ideological content and artistic features of this works.The terms are that:The first chapter introduces XUE’s life experience and studies his creative process of Yong Un Notes, The main content is to explore the impact of XUE’s life experience on the creative process of Yong Un Notes, and to summarize and analyze versions and theme sources of Yong Un Notes.The second chapter expounds the profound ideological content of Yong Un Notes, which mainly includes three parts:The first part connects XUE’s Yong Un series to dig into the reform ideas inside of Yong Un Notes, including rectifying officials, strengthening military exercises and reforming the imperial; the second part analyzes the empress novels in Yong Un Notes to explore XUE’s attention to the virtue of the empresses on the basis of the harem coup of the late Qing Dynasty; the third part classifies and interprets the urging and punishing ideas in Yong Un Notes to highlight XUE’s motivation of creation, namely " Punishing evil forces and promoting virtue".The third chapter focuses on discussing the artistic features of Yong Un Notes, including the art practices of virtual and real adaptation of history, the creative approach of allegorical narrative pattern for admonishment, and the diversified image-building techniques, such as refined appearance description,simple and explicit description, and skilful indirect highlight and so on.Based on the original text, this paper digs into the historical and literary value of Yong Un Notes with a rather comprehensive approach via induction and analysis of Yong Un Notes’s detailed content.
