Nowadays, the arts education is vigorously developing in China. However the increasingnumber of students becomes a great challenge. With the fierce competition, many students can’treally master the knowledge they have learned in university, which leads to waste ofeducation.It is not only a great loss to the individual but also a great waste to our country. How tohelp students apply the theoretical knowledge in school to social practice is becoming theimportant task of the contemporary education.After my own observation and experience, I found that,in the arts education, the lack ofsocial practice is the key factor to this phenomenon."The fine arts curriculum standard" pointed out: the fine arts teaching should pay attentionto stimulate students’ innovation spirit and cultivate the students’ practical ability. Tutors shouldnot only to teach students the basic art knowledge and skills, but also help them improvecomprehensive practice ability. Therefore, attaches great importance to the social practice of finearts is an important concept of fine arts education.In this thesis.I will analyze the importance of social practice in the arts education andemphasizes the status of social practice course which plays an irreplaceable role.In addition, I will use a case study which I have experienced as a student in a Britishuniversity. I’ll analyze the teaching arrangement and teaching content of the design course, andmake a simple comparison with domestic subject. In addition, I will also analyze feedback ofthat module from students to explain the importance of social practice.Education workers should realize the importance of social practice in teaching. Socialpractice in the arts education can make students initiative, cultivate their independent thinkingand help them well master the knowledge and skills of fine arts.
