Houtu belief originated from the land worship of farming period,and Shanxi is the birthplace of Chinese civilization, therefore Houtubelief becomes one of the oldest beliefs in Shanxi with thedevelopment of human civilization. Because of its uniquegeographical location and historical situations, Jiexiu has formed adistinct regional color Houtu beliefs. Though the combination of fieldsurvey and literature consulting, the thesis describes the sacredspace of Houtu temple and its Taoist deities in details. Through theanalysis of people’s faith states and state power’s influence on theritual activities, it discusses the influence on Jiexiu Houtu temple bytime factors from the very beginning, and has a deep time brand mark.So no matter official push or people’s demands, Houtu temple hasgradually formed a soil belief of " god " circle by Houtu belief.The thesis is divided into three parts, which contains introduction,main body and conclusion. Meanwhile, the main body includes threeparts: The first part, it summarizes the sacred space of Houtuinheritance. Introduces the foundation and development of Hoututemple in detail, and reflect the uniqueness of Houtu belief though theunique faith carrier. Then, though narrating all god person of Hoututemple, reveal the flourish of its polytheism. The second part, temple fair is concentrated expression of faith. Author presented differentkinds of ceremonies and contents of Houtu temple fair in detailsaccording his experiences. Temple fair show the local inheritance ofHoutu belief though the sustain of Houtu faith and people’s activerecognition for Houtu faith, etc. The third part, analyzes Jiexiu Hoututemple and the the cause factors of the generation of Houtu beliefdeeply, and analyzes and summaries the roots of Taiwan daoistgroups progenitor return to the mainland.
