Houtu belief originated from the land worship of farming period,and Shanxi is the birthplace of Chinese civilization, therefore Houtubelief becomes one of the oldest beliefs in Shanxi with thedevelopment of human civilization. Because of its uniquegeographical location and historical situations, Jiexiu has formed adistinct regional color Houtu beliefs. Though the combination of fieldsurvey and literature consulting, the thesis describes the sacredspace of Houtu temple and its Taoist deities in details. Through theanalysis of people’s faith states and state power’s influence on theritual activities, it discusses the influence on Jiexiu Houtu temple bytime factors from the very beginning, and has a deep time brand mark.So no matter official push or people’s demands, Houtu temple hasgradually formed a soil belief of " god " circle by Houtu belief.The thesis is divided into three parts, which contains introduction,main body and conclusion.
