Survey On People's Houtu Belief In County Of WanRong, South Of ShanXi

HouTu , has a long history about thousands of years in county of WanRong , ShanXi province ,which is a custom of land worship coming into being from ancient China′farming culture . In this paper, HouTu will be put in a much wider culture square , that is : the folk Grass-Roots society . This paper contains detailed describtion of its common styles and festival rites ;analyzes the reasons of its thriving and prosperous ;focuses on its various functions on both people′s life and social system .Along with the development of the world ,HouTu itself has grown up as well through its own changes and has constantly important function in local society.
