An Analysis Of Wang Xiulan’s Performing Arts

Wang Xiulan (1932——present) is a representative performingartist of Pu Opera in Shanxi Province in the20thcentury,who is oneof the “Five celebrated actors” since the foundation of NewChina,she was born in Shanxi Province, now live in Yuncheng.Whenshe was young,Wang Xiulan left with her mother from hometown toXi’an, a famous city of China. The first time to performance PuOpera when she was eight years old, so people called her “the girlfamous in eight years old",and she dropped out from school nextyear, to become a class social actor in YuFeng Club, a club of PuOpera. Her teacher named Yuan Xiaoting,who was a standing outactor in the20thcentury. In a few years,Wang Xiulan become animportant actress of YuFeng Club,“as famous as Yan Fengchun apopular artists”, brought her great fame in shanxi province andmany neighbouring provinces. After the foundation of New China,Wang Xiulan was involved in the adaptation of Pu Opera, work withthe collection of traditional dramas and the rehearsal of moderndramas, she had got “the first national conference on watchingdrama performances” in1952, which is the first national awards forPu Opera of Shanxi Province. She also starred in the drama movie"Dou E’s terrible life" and "The east flows water ", and participatedin the national tour of Pu Opera,brought Pu Opera to all the country,she played a powerful role in promoting the development ofPu Opera.At the same time,she cultivated young actors verycarefully,and involved in the development of Pu Opera’seducation,she founded the Culture Art school in1973,mades asignificant contribution to the stage art heritage.When she was young,many actors of Pu Opera came to Xi’anbecause the second World War.Her teacher Yuan Xiaoting wasfamous for standing performance,he gave her all his knowledgeabout Pu Opera.Wang Xiulan was on the basis of the famous actorcraftsmanship,also had innovation and continuously developed, andcreated many vivids,personality prominent female image, formedits own unique style of performance.She had played more than100Operas with characters and representing features,for example,Killthe dog to scare wife, The hidden boat,and Sit around a fire. Shehad got many awards in national, and had many innovation opioionsin opera theory,she created many performance skills and methodsin stage, enriched and developed the theory of performance PuOpera. She also made an important contribution to the skillslearning for generations to develop the Local Operas.In this paper, I want to discuss and evaluate Wang Xiulan’sperforming arts, from the singing arts, arrangement and analysis ofperformance style, to highlight her contribution to the Pu Opera arts.The full text is divided into four chapters, the first chapter willreview the experience of Wang Xiulan,in this part,I will divide it intofour parts, when she was young,began to famous,famous in thecountry,the Culture Art school,to analyze her early performancestyle and characteristics in her artistic career; the second chapter will introduce her representative programs and the representativecharacters,in this part,I will divide it into two parts, including sevendramas and two opera films, to analysis Wang Xiulan’s mature roleperformance for the performing arts; the third chapter is basic onthe first two chapters, mainly summarizes the style and feature ofthe performing arts of Wang Xiulan, including spoken,action andsinging; the fourth chapter analysed WangXiulan’s perspective ofaesthetics, I wish to set the performing arts of her evaluation andsummarized.
