Research On The Ancient Stages Existing In Fenyang

Shanxi ancient drama culture is very prosperous. Fenyang cityhas a long history and numerous cultural relics. There are manytemples in these cultural relics, such as North Elm Wuyue Temple, LiuCun Guan Yu Temple, Zhao Ji Temple of Goddess etc. and almost allthe temples include drama stage. As traditional drama performancevenues, the ancient stages record Chinese traditional drama cultureinformation, load the traditional drama art form and the relationshipbetween audience and actors. Fenyang is a beautiful city full ofculture and history, locally has many ancient stages.Fenyang has seventy ancient stages. Based on the administrativedivision of Fenyang City, the author analyzes ancient stages of eighttowns (the Jia Jia Zhuang Town, Sanquan Town, Yudaohe Town, YanWu Town, Jicun Town, Xiao Jia Zhuang Town, Shi Zhuang Town, YangJia Zhuang Town) and two townships (Yangcheng Township, Li JiaZhuang Township), and makes detailed descriptions about ancienttemples and ancient stages from such aspects as creating style,stage prefatory remarks and drama inscriptions on stone tablets.The act of drama mentioned in the inscriptions of stages andtemples provides substantial basis for us to understand therelationship between drama and society at that time, has positivesignificance for us to deep mining drama connotation. The study of Fenyang ancient stages can reflect the developmental andevolutionary process of local drama and the relationship betweendrama and politics, economy, culture, folk custom and religion. As forthe ancient temples and stages of Fenyang city, most temples andstages lie in the Southeast, and there are less temples and stages inthe northwest. This is because the southeast is located in the Plainsarea, people are richer, while the northwest is located in the mountainarea, people live in poverty. People’s spiritual and culturalrequirements are different because of economic reasons. Perspectiveon time, Fenyang ancient stages are mostly of Ming, Qing Dynasty,especially in late Qing Dynasty.However, due to various natural disasters and man-made reasons,these precious cultural heritage has been severely damaged, collapsesituation is serious, well-preserved situation is not too much.Therefore we should make comprehensive and systematicinvestigations and analysis about Fenyang ancient stages, enablingpeople to have a comprehensive and systematic understanding aboutFenyang ancient stages, to enhance people’s protectiveconsciousness of the ancient stage. And by comparing andcontrasting relevant literature materials, field survey materialsobtained by author and previous research findings of these culturalrelics, we can have a better and deep understanding about humanvalues in ancient stages.
