A Report On The Translation Of An Illustrated Book To Ningxia Hui Culture (Excerpt)

This is a translation practice report on An Illustrated Book to Ningxia Hui Culture——Translation Methods of the Hui culture-loaded words. The book was written by a Hui culture research scholar Shu Xihong, which systematically introduces all aspects of Hui history and Hui culture, showing Hui people’s colorful cultural life to the readers. The book has no English version at present, so the author and other team members took it as a translation project and translate it under the way of project management. On the basis of the project, the author wrote the translation practice report.Based on the excerpt translation of An Illustrated Book to Ningxia Hui Culture, the report described the background of the translation task as well as the characteristics of the text, and then described the specific translation process, including "pre-translating preparation" and "translation process", in the process of "Pre-translating Preparation", the group arranged the task for the translators, made translation program and unify the translation tools; in the "translation process", the author introduced the translation of glossary terms and the original text, the revising and the feedback of the translation. Next the author introduced the Hui culture-loaded words and the characteristics, and then on the basis of analyzing the difficulties in the translation, the author put forward the translation methods. At last, the author summarized the gains in the practice and the unresolved problems and reflections.
