The image of the city is the city’s business card. It is the condition of a city to get development. Establishing the image of the city can be understood as the establishment of a brand image of the city. Building the brand image of the city plays an important role to get social recognition and economic development. Good brand image of the city is the city important intangible asset.At first, this paper interprets the image of the city and summarizes four models to promote the image of the city. City impression poster design plays an indispensable role in creating the image of the city. City impression posters use a creative visual language to show the culture of a city. This paper classify the city impression posters based on different themes and summarize city impression posters with the times, culture and regional characteristics. By analyzing some excellent city impression posters, anatomy posters forms and techniques, visual performance techniques, forms of creative expression, and tap each poster’s culture, arts etc. At last, based on the posters’ creative expressions and practices, I create the "Xiamen Image" posters and explain the meaning of these posters.City impression posters play an important role to build a visual image of the city. It can show the city’s unique spirit and promote the comprehensive development of the city.
