The Study Of Li Gonglin’s Paintings

Li Gonglin is a master in Chinese painting history whose relationship with friends is the typical sample of heritage and development of painting in the mid-norther song dynasty. Based on the analysis and research of his artistic style and artistic characteristics and put him return to the historical situation of the time he was living, we can understand more about the paiting condition and communication between scholars in mid-northern song dynasty. Then put him back to the present, we can give his artistic achievement an historical position in the history of art. This can help us to know the relationship between tradition and the contemporary painting development, and how to inheritage, development and innovation in the present and so on.This thesis collected many materials and summarized Li Gonglin’s drawing list and paintings with exact times from history records. Based on this the first chapter outlined the career the Li Gonglin’s painting, from this career the second chapter analysised and explaned several painting of Li Gonglin’s which are still exist, to show the real appearance of his paintings and the world of his spirits. The third chapter starts from the characteristic of shape and calligraphy of Li Gonglin’s paintings, then analysised the origin and compared with the paintings in the same time to find out the unique historical significance of his works. At last, from discussing the change of Li Gonglin’s painting style to understand the impact of Li Gonglin’s painting.
