A Study On The Southward Spreading Of Zaolvtai Culture

This paper is aimed at dividing the of periodization Zaolvtai Culture again,summarizing its cultural characteristics, and analyzing the remains which contain thefactors of Zaolvtai Culture in the lower Yangtze region. With the cultural and periodrelation of these remains and Zaolvtai Culture for comparative analysis, the study willsummed up the route of Zaolvtai Culture spreading southward, and attempt to makeclear the reasons and backgrounds from the following two aspects: the characteristicsof cultural pattern in east Henan area and the huge environmental change4000B.P.The whole thesis consists of5chapters.Chapter1: IntroductionThe history of research relating to Zaolvtai Culture’s current direction and thepurpose of writing were introduced. Since the1990s, the research about currentdirection of Zaolvtai Culture have something in common and the theme of this thesis.Many scholars often agreed that these related remains came from Zaolvtai Culture.Chapter2: The periodization and date of Zaolvtai CultureThe periodization of its typical pottery in the typical site of Zaolvtai Culture is divided.It includes5periods altogether which is compared with Longshan Culture. On thisbasis, the relative time and the absolute time which refer to14C dating will beconjectured for providing the standard of time when Zaolvtai Culture is comparedwith others.Chapter3: The southward spreading of Zaolvtai CultureThe cultural factors of Zaolvtai Cultrue in eastern Jiang-Huai region, Taihu Lakeregion and Ningzhen area are analyzed. Meanwhile the relationship between them andZaolvtai Culture and the direct source of Zaolvtai Culture’s factors were contrasted. Inaddition, the Zaolvtai Culture’s factors of Jiang-Huai region in Anhui show up somefeatures which are between its original habitat and the secondary area in the lowerYangtze region. Then combining with the front analysis, the southward propagationroute of Zaolvtai Culture is summarized.Chapter4: The backgrounds that Zaolvtai Culture spread to the south The reasons and backgrounds that Zaolvtai Culture spread to the south arespeculated from the two aspects: one is the characteristics of cultural pattern in eastHenan area, the other is the environmental change4000B.P. And it is explained whyZaolvtai Culture can break into the lower Yangtze region.Chapter5: ConclusionMain ideas of the thesis are generalized and summarized, in addition someconclusions are further identified.
