Modal particles, just as the name imply, refer to the words used to express themood. One of the main characteristics of Chinese---a member of Sino-Tibetan languagefamily, is that the use of word order and function words serve as an important means ofexpressing grammatical meanings.Modal particles, part of function words are of vitalimportance. However, more often they are used in oral language and hardly have anythingto do with the main object of study such as sentence structures. They are largely dependingon pragmatical factors to demonstrate their own significance and never do they make anydifference when used alone. All these factors bring many difficulties to the study of modalparticles. As a result,up to now study on modal particles sparks seriousdisagreement. However, with the development of language, communication variabilityinfluenced by individual liberation and the increasing status of oral expression, properusage of modal particles inspire people’s interest and enthusiasm, because it is an importantmeans of expression, reflecting the will and mentality of speakers’ unique purpose.Oversea Chinese Teaching,as an emerging subject, has been fully developed along with theeconomic development as well as the improvement of China’s international status. Thisencourages research of Oversea Chinese education to reach the peak. The increasinglyfruitful research focus primarily on Chinese phonetics, grammar, characters andpragmatic. This text has summarized the present situation of modal particles study, regard“A” as the object, thoroughly investigate its function, meaning, and the way to use.We alsotry our best to know the way to compile and explain in the existing textbooks. We collectedthe errors when foreign students study the “A” and through the analysis of the errors, theauthor has put forward her own teaching thoughts and wan to try her best to promote thedevelopment of the modal particles teaching.
