As one of the major topics in psychology, self-concept not only works as an importantpart in self-awareness, also plays an essential role in personality. It is important for thehealth education of schoolchild. In this research, the picture book was used as a tool forreading treatment to the children who suffered low self-concept to investigate if this tool isaccessible for the building of self-concept on schoolchild, this also enriched the readingtreatment area in China. This research has a positive effect on promoting the self-sensedevelopment in children as it displayed the guidance activity by using self-concept as themain topic.This research was based on a questionnaire survey,20subjects were selected,10inexperimental group and10in control group. In the experimental group, all the sampleswere intervened with picture book treatment weekly for ten weeks. While in the controlgroup, no treatment was applied. The results showed below by comparing the outcomes ofthe two groups.The reading treatment which using picture book as the main part has a significanteffect on guiding the middle grades children in primary school.The reading treatment which using picture book as the main part can improve theaction, intelligence with school situation, body and the appearance, anxious, happiness andsatisfied factors significantly, but the factor of get on well with others didn’t reach thelevel.Generally speaking, the middle grade children in primary school felt happy about thepicture book activity according to the number of feedback questionnaires and the resultstested by self-assessment.
