With the further exchange and development of international culture, literature translation boasts the increasingly obvious importance in distributing ideology, knowledge and moral values. Being a branch of literature, Children’s Literature focuses mainly on the readers of children. So the knowledge and values delivered by the translation of Children’s Literature attach great significance to the construction of children’s spirit. In the process of my translation of The One and Only Ivan, I came across some difficulties, such as differences of language, thinking and culture among the writer, the translator, and readers. Because of divergences of experience, comprehension ability and insight exiting in grown-up translators and children, translation of children’s literature is quietly different from other literature translation. Therefore it is very important for a translator to have a deep understanding about children readers’ cognitive level and aesthetic ability and to choose appropriate translating strategies. The Domestication, Foreignization, Annotation are extremely momentous in this stage. This research is a report of the problems that I have met in the process of translation and the strategies that I have applied to solve the problems. Considering the special features of Children’s Literature translation, this report discusses the wording and phrasing of the translation and conducts some analysis about the translated materials according to the related translation theories and strategies (the Following the Original Syntactic Order, Turning Phrases into Clauses, Reinventing Sentence structure, Reframing Discourses, Semantic Extension, Semantic Variation). Through this translation practice, the translator wishes to enrich my professionalism and accumulate abundant experience about translation.
