Shanxi is located in Northwest China, inland, although it is knowns as thecapital of thirteen dynasties, and it has rich Chinese ancient heritage; however asthe latecomer of watercolor incoming region, Shaanxi’s watercolor started late,after the establishment of China it began to development. Yu Zhongzhi and HuCuizhong are well-known for old watercolor painters, Liang Wenliang is also ainheritance watercolour explorer following them in Shanxi, and made an indeliblecontribution to the spead and development to promote the watercolor painting inShaanxi and he trained a new generation of watercolor painters. At present,books to research watercolor is lack, about Liang Wenliang’s watercolor is in avacant state. He devoted his life to watercolor of landscape, formed a uniqueartistic characteristics and artistic value. From his paintings, we can deeply feelhis sincere love for nature, deeply thinking of life, the unique sensitivity to color,the poetic contained in his painting is intriguing. As the leading figures in thefield of watercolor in northwest, research his watercolor landscape painting canpromote the development of Shaanxi watercolor, and enable watercolor learners toget beneficial inspiration.The purpose of this article is to study the artistic style and artistic value from agreat deal of watercolor landscape painting works by Liang Wenliang. From theart life of Liang Wenliang, to investigate how his artistic thought build, and fromthe form, content and division of nature to exploring his artistic characteristics.Finally, the value of research from four aspects: stick to traditional watercolorlanguage, interpretation of the beautiful height, the effect to watercolordevelopment in Shaanxi and the revelation to my watercolor painting creation.
