The beginning of1960s witnessed the bud of regional community building in Southeast Asian countries. The advent of regional community building made an end to the times when the superpower countries like United State, Russia domineered in this area. Looking back to the times before1960s, careful observers would find, that the Southeast Asian countries preyed victims to the United States under the name of organization called the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization. Southeast Asia Treaty Organization failed to benefit the southeast countries, and aggravated the uprising and tension in southeast countries. The worsening situation aroused the awareness, that is, only concerted effort can combat the interference of superpowers and pursue peace and prosperity. Based on it, ASA was formed on July,1961by the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia. In this paper, the first part, we would make attempts to analyze the relations between the cold war in Asia and the forming of ASA at the angle of historical approach, the second part, we set forth the advent, development, and rejuvenation of ASA. Finally, we would like to summarize the revolutionary influences the ASA brought forth.
