Relationship Between Foundation Bed And Sculpture

Foundation bed is part of the sculpture. Its size and color has great influence on the sculpture’s visual effect. With the development of sculpture art, foundation bed has become an integral part of sculptures, which not only has supported the main body of sculptures, but also serve as supplements and foils to the works. With times past by requirements and developments, sculptors are becoming more serious about the exploration on sculpture shape, coorrespondingly, the pursuit on the personality of pedestal process, no matter on external or internal form, has been tending to be more rich and varied.Based on the collection of sculpture pictures at all times and in all places, the on-the-spot investigation of Beijing International Sculpture Park, Tian’ anmen Square, Academy of Art Design of Tsinghua University, Central Academy of Fine Arts and its evidence of measurement, and the research of different style of pedestals by sculptors, this article is trying to discuss the important role of foundation bed played in sculpture shape. By discussing the intimate relationship between foundation bed and sculpture, the development of sculptural art, this article is aiming at inspiring the creation of sculptors in the future.
