Since eighty and ninety’s in last century, more and more Chinese director, took Chinese movie into the international movie circle, they use the lens and the image to push a brilliant Chinese culture to the world. Director Ang Lee is one of them. The fusion of Chinese and Western perspective and profound artistic creativity of Ang Lee demonstrated his feeling for a variety of Chinese and Western culture, the gender issues has been one important dimension of Ang Lee’s movie. This paper will take patriarchy, women, gay as the breakthrough point, and to seek for director Ang Lee’s thought on the gender issues.The first chapter and the second chapter focuses on the theme of gender order, discusses the deconstruction and reconstruction of order between the two genders. The traditional gender order is male dominated and female attached; the patriarchal system is the core and foundation of the whole male order. Dispelling significance lies in the change, so the second chapter focuses on the analysis of the reconstruction the new gender order by Ang Lee after the deconstruction of the old order. The third chapter mainly aims to analysis homosexuality, and to interpret the special discourse of gender order.Ang Lee’s movie of the gender order is rich in connotation, in addition to men and women in traditional gender order, also take care of homosexuality this special order.
