Study On The C-E Translation Of Introduction To Fossil Culture In Chaoyang Based On The Functional Approaches

Since1990, Chinese scholars found the ornitholite in Chaoyang Area，Liaoning. It had filledmany blanks of the early evolution of birds and caused a sensation in the world. These findingsand researches also have been reported by the global media in succession. Therefore thetranslation of the fossil culture texts in Chaoyang has played a very important role in promotingChaoyang’s cultural development and promoting the exchanges and cooperations between Chinaand the world.Under the guidance of functionalist approaches to translation, the thesis attempts to explore thetranslation of fossil culture texts of Chaoyang Area, which is in the west of Lioaning Provinceand to put forward translation principles and specific translation methods for translation of fossilculture texts.Text function and Skopos of target text receives special attention from functionalist scholars.Based on careful study of functions of source text and target text of fossil culture in ChaoyangArea, translation Skopos, and translation brief, the thesis draws up target receivers-orientedprinciple and Chinese culture-and history-oriented principle in translation of fossil culture texts.Besides, the Chinese local place names of fossil culture texts demand special treatment intranslation by translators, the utmost translation principle is to retain them in target translation inan acceptable way for target receivers. Guided by the theory and the above three principles, somespecific translation methods for translation of fossil culture texts, such as addition, deletion andrewriting will be explored at the end of the thesis.As a matter of fact, there are limited studies on translation of the fossil culture texts in Chaoyang Area. The author would like to serve as one of the pioneer to explore the translation of the fossilculture texts in Chaoyang Area, and hope that more profound and enlightening research fortranslation of the fossil culture texts in Chaoyang Area will be conducted from multidimensionalperspectives.
