On Poems Of Chu Guangxi

Chu Guangxi, one of the pastoral poets at the height Tang Dynasty, has arousedwidespread concern since the height Tang Dynasty. However, from this century, the academicstudy of Chu Guangxi is becoming desolate. This paper mainly discusses four parts: thebiography and thoughts of Chu Guangxi, the topic and characteristics of his poems, ChuGuangxi’s status in the art of poetry. This paper aims to restore the real role of Chu Guangxiin the pastoral poems’history from a more comprehensive study.On the basis of the formers’researches and related poems of Chu Guangxi, the first partof this paper analyses Chu Guangxi’s life objectively, comprehensively and in detail. Basingon the first part of the study, the second part analyses the changes of the poetic theme with thepoet’s personal fortune and the characteristics of various poetic themes. The third part focuseson the study of the poems, and especially from artistic conception, language, genre threeaspects to explore the artistic characteristics in depth. As for the artistic conception of thepoetry, this paper mainly discusses the two characteristics of “Qing” and “Shi”. As for thelanguage, this paper mainly discusses its mellowness, straightforwardness and usage ofreiterative words. The genre of Chu’s poems is well-known for five-character verse. At thesame time, the paper focuses on the use of the group of poems. The last part is about theartistic status of Chu Guangxi’s pastoral poetry. As one of the pastoral poets, Chu Guangxiconnects Tao Yuanming and Fan Chengda. Compared with contemporary Wang Wei and MenHaoran, Chu Guangxi’s pastoral poetry is better. Chu Guangxi plays a significant role in thehistory of Chinese pastoral poetry.
