Decorative pattern keeps evolving along with social changes includingeconomic, political, and cultural development. Decorative art, which is also inconstant improve, is the kind of art that is inseparable from daily life, productionand environment. Pattern is the soul In the field of decoration art as well as theimportant orientation in the study of art. Creative ideas in decorative pattern andthe characteristics of that age presented in various modellings reflect the materialneeds and spiritual values of that era. Pattern is the core and soul of decorativeart as well as the tool for expressing thoughts in decorative art. Decorativepatterns in different ages and different nations have their unique ideas and charm.People use this kind of decorative pattern to show the social situation and theiremotional world. The creative, inheritance and continuity of pattern has left thefuture generations with precious cultural heritage and wealth. This legacy is thecrystallization of art and also enables people to better understand their ancestors.Since pattern is a very important foundation for art, we shoud figure out how toinherit the traditional art and how to make innovations so as to make decorativeart more charming in the current age.The dragon pattern which is a symbol of the Chinese nation as well asrepresentative of decorative art has a history of thousands of years. The seatedcopper dragon of Jin Dynasty embodies the creative, inheritance and continuityof art. Through studying the change and development of the dragon pattern andthe modelling of this seated copper dragon, this paper attempts to get people tohave a certain understanding of social development, production, living, politics,culture, religion and aesthetics at that time in China.The Pisces Mirror of the same period also has strong artistic features. This mirror is representative of the many mirrors with fish patterns. The changes ofpatterns on the back of the Pisces Mirror and the fish patterns reflect thehistorical development of art in each age. The ancients used their limitlesscreativity and wisdom to present art in a palne of several inches, fully embodyingpeople’s desire for beauty and their yearning for a better life.
