Yang Hongying’s Campus Bildungsroman

"Growth" is the eternal theme of children’s literature. Yang Hongying, a famous writer of contemporary children’s literature, insists on the creation view of children standard and integrates a lot of thinking about education and growth into the creation of a campus novel series to provide guidance for the healthy growth of children. Using the methods of children education, child psychology and text analysis, this theme tries to analyze the differences between Yong Hongying’s’Bildungsroman’and the traditional ones, to summarize the peculiarity of her novels of growth and its positive significance on the growth of teenagers, and furthermore, to rethink the existing problems in order to provide shallow opinions for the children’s literature creation.The theme is comprised of three parts:the introduction, the main body, and the epilogue. In the introduction, the author sums up the basic features of the Bildungsroman and points out the significance of this topic through a simple study of the novels of growth at home and abroad and the present research on Yang Hongying’s works. The main body of the theme discusses Yang Hongying’s Bildungsroman from the following aspects:analysis of the children’s images moulded in the novels; disclosure of the theme of the novels; linguistical characteristics and narrative features of the novels; the social significances of the novels and reflection on the deficiencies of the novels. And in this part, the peculiarity of Yang’s Bildungsroman and its significance to the growth of children are affirmed based on the comparison with the traditional Bildungsroman and objective analysis. It also points out that families, schools, and the society should really go to understand children, protect them, pay close attention to their physical and mental health using modern education idea and humanistic care. The conclusion affirms once again the positive significance of Yang Hongying’s growth novels on the basis of summarizing the full dissertation. Meanwhile, the author also wishes that there will be more excellent children’s literary works to provide spiritual nourishment for children and to guide the healthy growth of teenagers.
